about

Originally released on AuralgamiSounds:

"13 Stages" is somewhat improvisational. The composer has supplied the pitches, but the performers may determine note durations. The series of pitches begins as a descending scale, which is then broken apart and turned into a melodic motive. The motive is in turn broken apart, and from its fragments, an ascending scale is constructed. As each performer is determining his or her own note durations, the result is an ever-evolving, overlapping counterpoint.

In this performance, each stage lasts 9 minutes.
